Dr. Pramod Poudel is an Associate Professor at the Central Department of Biotechnology, Tribhuvan University, Nepal since 2020 AD. Dr. Poudel also served as a Research Director (2019-2023 AD) of Research and Scholarship Division at the University Grants Commission (an apex body of higher education institutions, Government of Nepal), with major responsibilities of developing research and innovation policies/guidelines for Higher Education, developing strategies for collaboration with world-class universities, conducting research policy dialogues. Dr. Poudel hold a PhD in Biotechnology from the Kyushu University, Japan in 2015 under prestigious Japanese Government Fellowship.  He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experiences. He is closely working with World-Bank funded project: Nurturing Excellence in Higher Education Program (NEHEP) in Nepal-for developing standards, operational procedures and guidelines for Collaborative research and Entrepreneurship Support Program.  He is a Biotechnology expert at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Government of Nepal. Dr. Poudel is a young scientist awardee of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology in the year 2017 AD. Dr. Poudel is recipient of prestigious Nepal Vidhya Busan Ka award from the Government of Nepal in 2016 AD. He was also awarded with TWAS research grant, KWEF-Japan research fund, UGC-research grants, for conducting researches. He is associated with several national/international professional societies, attended international conferences/seminar and have reviewed several manuscripts invited from high ranked journals. He has visited several countries such as UK, Netherlands, Japan, Thailand, China, Sri Lanka and India for attending the international conferences/seminars. He has supervised several masters students and one ongoing PhD student . Besides these, he serves as an expert member various technical and steering committees formed by Government of Nepal. He has published several research articles in ranked journals. His areas of research are on beneficial soil microbes, Lactic acid producing bacteria, indigenous fermented foods, Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria, Metagenomics.
